The long awaited Costco is coming to the SouthWest Las Vegas valley! November 8th is the date!!
A new Costco in Henderson will open in November.
It’s being built in West Henderson, one of the fastest growing parts of the Valley.
A quick check on the site reveals workers chugging along toward the grand opening.
Jackhammers and hammers could be heard as the building takes shape at St. Rose and Maryland Parkways. It’s an area now filled with construction crews.
Dawn Kaplan has lived in the neighborhood for 10 years.
“Living out here and seeing it empty all these years, it’s kind of exciting to have it have some development finally,” said Dawn Kaplan.
Kaplan said she hardly recognizes what’s going on outside her front door.
“Business is booming,” she explained.
It’s easy to spot backhoes, dump trucks and bulldozers. Sky 3 captured workers up above Costco, chugging along toward the grand opening of the warehouse giant’s new location.
“It’s gonna be really nice to have one across the street,” said Kaplan.
It’s one of many projects that have broken ground along St. Rose Parkway near the 15.
Scott Muelrath is the president and CEO of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
“Every day that you drive up and down St. Rose Parkway is a different day from a development standpoint,’ said Muelrath.
“So many projects are coming up and out of the ground, from mixed-use to residential, to commercial centers, too, of course, the Raiders practice facility,” he continued. “So, it’s a very compelling footprint.”
According to Muelrath, finding enough skilled labor for the construction boom in the Valley remains a challenge.
“The labor supply continues to grow in the valley. Is it limiting? Yes, it is,” said Muelrath.
“Especially on the residential side. But, it’s also a check on how quickly things can be built and maybe that’s not a bad thing,” he continued.
The new developments are only adding to Kaplan’s once quiet neighborhood, now at the center of a building boom.
“It’s way different than it was here 10 years ago,” said Kaplan.
